August 2008 — "Live musical performances, lots of swag, and cheap food! Oh...and fireworks, I almost forgot about the fireworks... Highlighting Calgary's cultural diversity, I was surprised how homegrown and non-corporate this festival still feels. Sure, there are the obligatory tents from sponsors like Rogers Wireless, but they don't overshine the tents displaying Calgary's rich cultural make-up. Furthermore, with the exception of one bloody Tacotime vendor, the food tents at Globalfest feature several mom and pop style restauranteurs who sell a variety of foods at incredibly reasonable prices! To put it into perspective a Jamaican pattie at "Taste of Calgary" will cost you approximately $5, at Globalfest, that same Jamaican pattie is $2. P.S. The fireworks were good too."
GlobalFest's OneWorld Festival at Elliston Park showcases Calgary's cultural diversity by "Celebrating a World of Difference" through food, drink, entertainment, and tons of family fun!
