Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Gutsy Walk
• Sandy Beach Park SW, Calgary AB
The Calgary Chapter of the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of Canada is presenting its annual Gutsy Walk.
The goal is to raise money for research and to raise awareness about Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis, which together are known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Approximately 1 in 160 Canadians are affected by IBD. Canada is believed to have one of the highest rates of IBD in the world. Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are the two most common forms of IBD. Crohns disease involves inflammation of any part of the gastrointestinal tract, while ulcerative colitis involves only the large bowel. Crohns disease and ulcerative colitis are both chronic illnesses. They are painful, and can be socially isolating due to the "embarrassment factor".
